Dang - but for the record here is the mail that I got RPM:
Dear Telkom Internet Subscriber,
Telkom Internet has experienced enormous growth over the past year to the extent that we have outgrown the facilities where the service infrastructure was housed. To support our Internet service offering and to accommodate new developments in the ISP arena, we have moved the service infrastructure to our new data centre facility in Centurion.
This facility rates among the top 3 data centres in the world and is truly state of art.
Unfortunately, we were unable to update the usage tracker and send you updates during the move. However, now that the move has been completed, you can once again view your updated usage. Please note that we won't be able to update the history for the time the data wasn't read, the status will therefore remain as is since 1 July. Also note that the tracker tool only updates on a 24-hour cycle at midnight and is not a real-time tracker as such. All usage for a particular day is only updated at midnight and will only be reflected on the tracker tool the following day. If you were to check the usage on the tracker during the morning and again later in the day after being online, then the usage shown on the tracker will be unchanged and will not reflect the sessions of that day until after midnight. The tracker service will be fully restored on Friday the 1st of August and we trust that you will correctly interpret the data displayed as historic and not real-time data.
Please accept our sincerest apologies for any inconvenience caused.
Regards,
Sonia Labuschagne

I think they did that by mistake and discovered, horror of horrors, that they had inadvertently given their poor long suffering customers a voice.
I think they have now turned it off.
