Hey

I'm not sure about you guys, but I can't get into some websites, and it can't be that the server is down, becuase it's been like this for over a week. Try www.mnet.co.za for example. I can't get onto that site!?!?
Also, www.eurotribe.co.za

These are the only two that I've come across.
What could it be?

I use Telkom as ISP - I got into both just fine yesterday.
Note: mnet isn't working today 'cos their ASP is screwed up.
The other URL ends with a . - remove the . and it'll work.

I seriously doubt Telkom would block off any sites , Telkom would find itself in court over the issue by some aggrieved site owner - the sites mentioned here are not small fry either.

Lets not get paranoid about Telkom, Telkom's current ADSL implementation is far from perfect and has some issues but Telkom is not '<b>evil</b>'.

We must also be cautious not to be so negative as to be unaproachable - Think about it like this, would you want to talk to someone who is totally negative ?

I would suggest looking at the tweaking guides on www.dslreports.com.

It may have something to do with your Maximum Transmission Unit (MTU) or Receive Window (RWIN) settings that are resulting in some websites not displaying - there are posts to this effect on the site.

I think Telkom's DNS is set to update very slowly to throw off 3rd party Dynamic IP DNS services like NO-IP and DynDNS. I noticed that it is so slow that it actually loses some real live websites that my dialup can access fine. Ons word 'n rat voor die oë gedraai hier [;)]

Works fine for me. Maybe if you gave a little more detail. What message comes up when you try to connect to those sites? I know there are other issues with DSL that needs to be looked at when you have this problem.
