View Full Version : What is the price range for this car?
I'm looking to buy a car and I found one that I like.
It's a 325, got 160 000 km's on it. It's a convertable that comes with the hard and soft top.
What would be the right price to pay for this car?

Depends on the condition and year model.
I would assume around R50-R60k ...

1995 BMW 325i Cabriolet Mex Met blue, grey leather, soft top, convertible, full house, m-style individual body kit, sport mags, good cond, bargain. R59 000.
Gauteng
Tel: 073 264-2043
Price: R 59 000
There are 2 325i convertables there.
One is 60k and the other is 90k, the one for 60 claims it is a bargain.
The one I'm looking at has the m3 kit and mags. Many people don't like the look but I do :)
I'm thinking anything less than 60K is a good price and 70K+ is too much.

I'm thinking, I wouldn't buy a BMW with 160 000km on it.
Servicing is pricey.
Spare parts expensive, etc, etc.

i drive a bmw 318ti 2003 model, someone stole my side mirror (they snapped the whole thing off) and it's R 5 500 to replace it (passenger mirror) .. so beware on parts prices when it comes to bmws.

What makes you say that?
Is that the general rule of thumb if its priced that much lower than the other?
Then again, if the other car is 90k and the one he is interested in is 60k, it may even be a Code 3.

Estimated Trade Range: R 61434.60 - R 62727.96
Estimated Retail Range: R 68775.25 - R 72033.03

I'm gonna go have a look tomorrow to see what condition the car is in.
Taking a mechanic friend who is a BMW nut with me to have look at the engine. If everything looks good I might just take it.
Will push for a cash disocount tho.
Wonder what the insurance on this will be if I get my dad tp put it on his name, I'm under 25.

One of those lessons u have to learn yourself....
Eina!
I spent the last few months looking for a good condition e36 318is.Found a few nice looking ones but they all had very high km's 300K+ or they were very expensive 50K+.
I still wouldn't mind a good condition 318is but I've pretty much given up on finding a nice one.
Theyre light on fuel, much much faster than the normal 318 and the motor spares aren't as expensive as the 6 cylinders.

Handy tool that, I've been using autotrader.co.za to try figure out the value of a car. Thanks.
I take it retail is the price in the year it was first sold and trade range is the actual value?
Edit: 'k I've just realised that was a little naive. I should be looking at the retail price range.

AFAIK Trade range is the price you can expect to be paid on trading in the car. Retail range is the range you can expect to pay on purchasing the car
