Agreed , but why is there so little fibre in this country ?
Because the law effectively prevents anyone else besides
Telkom, from investing in fibre. If "fibre" could be privately owned
we could be fully fibred in less than a year.
The main reason why we are so badly fibred is that
somehow our government "needs" to retain ownership of
the revenue that is derived from fibre.
It is greed that is preventing our developement and growth.
Unfortunately, the mindset is identical to that of one Albert Hertzog - "the TV debacle".
Somehow politicians, regardles of their persuasions,
seem to think that service to the people is translated as ownership
of the people and as long as they can get away with it, they will !.
Nope, I for one believe that the severe lack of fibre is solely due
to the inability and unwillingness of government (read Telkom) to release or share ownership and is driven by greed. (self-greed)
In an event - always look for the one that stands to gain -
this always explains the event.
