Unsolved linux problems? Umm... you get those? :D - The biggest problem I can think of for linux is the lack of support from MS paid hardware vendors like HP.

I tried that but lecturer said its not a good enough problem. I need something I can research. The solution to the support problem is hire and train people. No research involved in that
Thanks for trying:(

The fact that Linux does not hold majority market share is the biggest unsolved problem Linux has thus far :p

Another interesting one you may want to look at is the lack of gaming in Linux:

A problem Linux has, well if the lecture wants something with the system its self. Here are a few

a) Sound, people often struggle to duplicate stereo to 5.1 surround.
b) People who have lucent Win-Modems struggle to run on linux
c) Windows software does not run on linux easily

Thats my 5c, may or may not help

Yeah, and mac software doesn't run on windows.

Those are not linux problems - those are problems with software/hardware designed for one OS being used with another.

the inability of the linux community to assist people not willing to RTFM or do their own research before posting questions</sarcasm>

this thread is a duplicate of another (http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php?t=117480).

why not look into DVD players for Linux. AFAIK, there is not one legal Linux media player capable of playing DVD's. You have to resort to downloading illegal software to be able to play legally purchased DVD's... ironically though pirated DVD's should play without the software (I don't have any, but I do know that they remove CSS when ripping them).

I think the lack of a unified installation method is a problem

RPM's for Red hat
Deb for Debian/ubuntu
Yum for SUSE

It's all very confusing
