Hi All
I just want to complain about the "lower than shark ****" service I have been getting on the 10th and 11th Jan 2004.
My line was going up and down every minute, that is the DSL_LNK light on the ADSL Router Pots would go on for about a minute and then start flashing for about 10 seconds and so on...
I recrimped my rj11 end pieces, thinking there may be a loose connection. No Luck after monitoring it again.
I then monitored the voltage on the line.
What was interesting here, is that the voltage never dropped..... Thus, in my limited knowledge of the ADSL service (technically that is) I presumed that the integrity of the line was OK. SO, look a little closer, I switched off the ADSL Router Pots, and then while holding the reset button in, switched the unit on. You have to hold it in for about 10 seconds I think. It then flashes all the lights etc, and it reloads its firmware to factory default.
AND, it works, the line is stable again.
*WTF* anyone had this. Can you imagine if I called out Telkom, They would have charged me for this lousy problem. [?]
Anyway, just though I would add this to the discussion for the benifit of anyone else.
Thank you
Bob
