home/ small office antivirus protection???

hi all
just like to get a few suggestions,
What would be the best option to protect a home pc, got avg free 8 and registrie booster 2 but as per some threads seems like avg8 is not one of the best anymore, use Symatic and not happy.
Used avast 4 trail but seems to create threats form any file.
Any suggestions for good stable protection?????
 
I'm using Avast home, have been for years. Not one stitch of trouble, runs in the background, and does the job.
 
Non-windows OS.
People need to ask themselves "Do I REALLY need Windows?"
For the most part (with the exception of the gamers), the answer is "No".
 
For the 5min a day I spend on Windows I'd rather not use anything, but since AVG8 uses such little resources and works fairly well, I installed it. I'm not spending any money on my Windows partition, btw. I believe Linux is a better investment.

My AVG 8 is working fine, though I'd recommend NOD32 :)
