What's an ATI 9600XT worth in this day and age?

What board is it on?

Gigabyte, Asus, etc... ?
 
Around R300? You can usually get those prices quite easily from the Cape Ads/Junk Mail.

The board will hardly matter anymore, no warranty or anything.
 
well... you looking at around R500 but you have to remember that no one really wants these cards as they really don't play the new games all that well,
 
Well the board would matter to me. Cheapies don't always overclock well, which is about the only reason I would want to buy this in the first place.

The main problem is:
Radeon 2400 Pro @ R400-00: 525MHz core, 400MHz memory, 2.1 GT/s, 2.1 GP/s, DX10

Whereas 9600XT has 500MHz core, 300MHz memory, 2.0GT/s, DX9

2400's 64bit memory bus will hold it back, but at least it has DX10 support. Oh, and it's NEW (warranty)

How could it be worth R500, you can get something like an X1550 for that much, surely that cards is better or at least similar in performance?

By the way I'm not trying to sell one, I'm thinking of perhaps buying one.

Anyway why a 9600XT?

oh, in that case you could possible get that down to R300 or even R200

I might think about that, I'll have to consider its performance compared to other cards in that price bracket.

The reason why is, I placed a want ad in the classifieds for an agp 8X card at least a 9600pro, and have been offered a 9600xt 256mb.

I said 9600pro 'cos I know it will run Oblivion on my pc, not that great but it r uns, I know 'cos I've tried with my bros' 9600pro 128mb.

But I might just hold off till HD4650 comes, and see the cost/performance of that, and try scrape together enough cash for a new system.

Ja. Would be good. My card is a PCI-E anyway...

The 4650 would pwnz anything in the same price bracket anyway...
 
I still got my 9600Pro 256MB AGP with Passive Cooling here, do not know what these things are worth anymore though. This card can still run Oblivion and even Crysis, without the eye candy of course. I don't even know if it is worth selling it :o
