Yo dude, I installed the modem EXACTLY like they explained on the pamflet, TWICE, and I still get a POST error message telling me it failed whenever I startup the dialer. Support dude said I did it wrong... wtf?

hmm, dont recall what the pamphlet said but I know I followed it to the letter - the biggie that was impressed on me was NOT to plug the modem in, until the software says to do it.. dunno what this might cause, but it was pushed at me to not plug anything into PC until the software said 'fine - do it'..
otherwise, uninstall, reboot - maybe del the install folders (if they still are there wherever you put them), then go through the process again - shouldnt take more than 5 -10 minutes max each time..
might help to make sure the modem is on, secured to where ever, and not moving around, and just awaiting the final plugging of USB into pc..
another thought - given that I didnt pay attention to yer thing re startup dialler..
in the modem dialler thing, there're at least TWO tabs where u have to put username and password - (NETWORK and ISP) initially I was having to enter them manually, then something started working and it became automatically perm there.. so make sure both are filled out..
also - maybe, depending on what other network protocols you're running at the same time - these might be fighting (all I had was standard TCP-IP - if you've got more, then maybe ghost the drive, strip out the other network thing, and do a reinstall of the modem software..?

I think windows 98 will automaticly try installing some USB Driver.
so installing the drivers first, you have the right drivers available.
Something like that. I think windows XP the same.

Did it all correctly, and the thing doesn't allow me to change passwords on the network user thing, only the isp, and I have to be real quick about it before it tries connecting... but the connection fails with Air i/f failure - network not responding
but yea, the post error I'll try and sort out tonight, I only plugged the modem in when it told me to, went through the whole "install my modem automatically" process, clicked next, and poof. This is on 2 pc's by the way, post error.....
*shrug* haven't tried it on my pc here because i dont get ANY signal in this freaking building, outside is kewl, but in, ****all :(

Maybe it's because your tower isn't active yet?
I'm assuming their authentication server does not sit on each tower, but rather in their server room...
So, your modem can probably not authenticate, and that's why you get that error

stating the obvious [:p], my question tho is, can't they just let the modem switch to an ACTIVE tower? I'm covered by 2 of the little suckers, one in floracliffe and one at radiokop (which is suppose to be operational)
but the POST error has nothing to do with the signal, power on self test, something with the modem? I can't see how I installed it incorrectly if I FOLLOW steps provided...
