4 die in horror sports car crash

Terribly sad story and I blame the parents. What does a 22 year old know about driving a Diablo?

I'll bet the car was not even paid off.
Sad.
Why can't the young kids of today not simply be happy with a plain vinilla Corolla?

Exactly. A lot of these kinds of cars require some or other form of advanced driving skill- stuff you acquire after completing several courses and training.

Gareth Cliff said this morning on the radio that these kinds of cars are not suited to our pot-hole ridden roads. Imagine hitting a pot-hole at 200km/h:eek:

read it this morning in the paper......

Bloody hell who gives a 22yo a "supercar"?

You should not be driving those type of illegal speeds on public roads anyway.
Do you?

im sorry i think thats shocking from diablo

i read a similar story in the states where a ferrari was broken in 2 and the driver and his chick walked away from a totally wrecked ferrari

im amazed that car's safety standards are not that great, wow that car is finished, considering the price i thought the driver would have some f1 protection or something

Mr and Mrs Scott... Bet they wish they hadn't... So irresponsible of them!!! They killed their son, sorry to say, it's harsh but it's the truth. You don't give a relatively inexperienced driver a super car for his 22nd birthday... Just asking for trouble...

So much Tightning the Belts in SA....

He got a Diablo as a gift from his folks :D

Ja and I was accused of driving at 200km/h when I merely quoted a radio personality. Seems he is having a little bit of a hard time that he doesn't have a Diablo himself.

The problem (I think) is that these cars catch fire very easily, because of the huge engine (which also pretty much takes up most of the car) and all the huge amounts of fuel lines and flows into and around the engine.

Many cases worldwide of huge-engined sportscars that take flame and toast the inside passengers, even at moderate crashes.

You people need to listen to Radio 702. The car was most certainly not a gift from his parents - the statement given by Mr Minaar and the story told by the papers is completely incorrect and they are unbelievably irresponsible to print such nonsense.

It was in fact lent to him by a business associate on an on-off basis. His father Mr Scott was on the radio in tears merely trying to set the record straight after the papers began tarnishing his family's name immediately after just losing their son!

I crashed my wifes Renault Clio 2 years ago and the car caught fire. I think it's probably heat from the engine coupled with a punctured fuel line that causes the fire... Luckily for me I walked away with not even a scratch, the car was a right off but all credit to Renault for building a car that did such a good job of protecting the occupant...

I heard on the radio this morning that it was a company car and the parents didnt give it to him as a birthday present...

As for the fire part. A friend of mine who had alot of sportscars from Lambos, Ferraris and Porsches also died in a similar crash, he was going home from mosque in Marlboro and hit a lampost, the car exploded on impact and he burnt alive, it was the first F430 in the country. Mind you that was his 8th time he crashed an exotic car....
