Heya

Cape town is supposed to go live in march, is that the begining of march... or end ? Do you have any set date that you can give us as a guidline ?

Also if you have any info regarding which proposed towers will be going up firt in cpt. thanks dewd.
 
The proposed switch on date is the 19th March but due to enviromental study problems this could change and probably will.
In the meantime goto the website and register yourself as willing Beta tester.
 
I already filled in a whole normal application form, via their online application, i just havent faxed it off to sentech. I did not see anywhere mentioning beta testing? PLEASE :) tell me where to sign up for cpt beta testing .... mail [email protected] :)

turns out i live RIGHT next door to the proposed Amanda Glen tower. like 300meters away :) :) :) so i am a keen willing tester!

Lo all.

I'm in the Newlands area, and am also a keen beta tester. I see on one of the posts (Sentech Towers) that there is a proposed tower in Newlands.

Lol, well they have not even started in Durban yet, which was suppose to be up by Feb and it's almost the middle of Feb and nothing.

yeah so i foned this morning to try an register as a beta tester an it seems the 40 testers have already been selected and their starting in 4 weeks time to test the system here in ct.
also asked a very important question for me and it seems bellville if their going live in ct then is not gonna have coverage yet because of the stupid department of enviromental affairs is dragging its ass getting the enviromental impact study concluded. so come march it looks like we bellville boys are gonna be excluded from the airways.

Ye i got the same answer, regarding BETA testing :/ damn i was a lil slack, shoulda been on them a lil earlier.

That sucks regarding bellville. Luckily i fall under durbanville, i hope they dont have the same problems.
 
Silver i think bellville and durbanville will be serviced by the same tower. so either way i've got a partner in depression now.
remember the initial word of mouth that was going around a while ago?
the tower for our area is gonna be on tygerberg hills.

Now the stupid thing is why do they need another impact study for a hill thats got bloody knows how many antenna's up there already.

"Parow North"... that would be pretty close to tygerberg hill right? I dont quite understand why tygerberg hill is not actually on that list? All i do know is that i live about 300meters from Amanda Glen, which is on that list. So i am hooooping that its accurate, and that it will be a mywireless access point.

"Loevenstein".. thats in bellville right? Are any of those places close to you armitage ?
 
Loevenstein is the South Eastern part of Tygerberg hills. I assume Sentech will be putting up a tower on the southern tip of Tygerberg as that part can be regarded as being in Loevenstein.

I'm in Stellenbosch, don't see it on the list [V]
And what about Somerset West/Strand?

Ok well seeing as Durban seems to be up and running now can someone PLEASE help we with the Coverage Locator, it never works for me, do I have to dl anything or have any running when I goto that site ? I have tried numerous times and I ALWAYS get an error of some sort.
 
The coverage locator will only be fully onstream for Durban on the 19th when we have the official public launch.

Don't forget us University of Cape Town students. There are thousands of us waiting to get onto MyWireless :)

UCT management should be pretty supportive regarding towers on main campus and on the Groote Schuur hospital. They're on the mountain side so you would be able to get maximal coverage!
