Believe it or not:

Telkom can't take my order for ADSL! They are currently the only option for me as Sentech is not around yet.

A client is setting up new offices. Telkom's salesrep very efficiently took the order for a PABX etc but could not take the order for ADSL (corporate policy I believe).

No problem, as it anyway takes weeks for Telkom to install a few lines and a PABX. It won't delay the 3 weeks required to install ADSL.

Got a order no and a phone number on which to place the ADSL order.

Guess what: Telkom can't accept the order before the installation of the new lines and PABX has been completed on their systems (2-3 days after the actual installation has been completed).

And by the way sir, we can't install ADSL on a line which is part of a hunting group. You better fork out another hundred bucks a month for a separate line which can be installed when we install ADSL.

Guess what the client did[^]: If Sentech is delivers their service (planned Q1 2004 signal good) before Telkom, they will have the business.

Now it is up to Sentech to deliver the working service before Telkom does!

The race is on, and both are performing badly [V]

Sentech is willing to operate a system of "please inform me when I am covered" notifications.
