Neotel launches in Cape Town

Why didn’t Neotel go and set up their base stations by sharing it with either MTN or Vodacom, the country would be covered much quicker at less cost. Then they could go and start building their own fiber and base stations. I would have thought that would be a great idea and am sure that it wont be that difficult to setup.
 
It is a pity they do not have unlimited off-peak minutes or some amount of minutes as most people I know are on Telkom naturally and it would cost me to call them now.
 
I called them about 2 hours ago and they couldn't confirm they are launching today. :rolleyes:

My house is about 100m outside their coverage area and they have had all my details for months now. :mad:

Maybe its for the best. I will wait patiently for their ethernet enabled device / coverage / WiMax / Pre Paid Data Bundles / the tooth fairy / ..... :rolleyes:

EDIT: In fact my new Telscum line has been put in and I'm doing the self-install for my ADSL next week or on the weekend...
 
Live in Bellville, where they have coverage, but apparently I just fall outside their footprint. So no Neotel for me now. :(

Innovation, and a superior product WILL speak for itself... I don't see the point of all this horn blowing until someone who actually uses their services can back it up.

Neotel, over deliver... don't over promise.
 
Still way to early to tell if they are worth it

How could that possibly be cheaper? Last time I checked, Neotel's CDMA 2000 offering was considerably cheaper that any other broadband offering. MTN's 3G coverage for instance is pretty crap at the moment, and whilst Vodacom is great coverage over SA, their service is not good enough yet.

I think that Neotel are taking the correct approach, albeit a lengthy procedure, in setting up their own infrastructure from the beginning. This will put them in a much better position to provide a service that does not involve 3rd party problems (refer to CellC piggy-backing off Vodacom a while back).

I think he meant share the towers, not the network infrastructure.

Just imagine Neotel piggybacking of Cell C piggybacking off Vodacom piggybacking of telscum piggybacking of Poison Ivy :)
 
I saw a "Neotel at work" sign in Tygervalley on Tuesday next to the guys laying fibre :)
 
blah blah blah... no coverage in highveld technopark in Centurion.... an area which consists of primarily businesses. And this what 6 months after them launching in Pta/Jhb? Talk is cheap. Actions speak louder than words Mr Pandey.
 
Called my local Postnet. They have the devices, no ethernet (they thought I meant internet with a lisp:D), had to explain what that was and they are still trying to get a coverage map from Neotel. So they are not able to sell any phones without a proper coverage map. Nobody is breaking down their doors either. Very soft launch indeed. :rolleyes:
