Best cheapo sound card to get that is fully compatible with Linux/Kubuntu

Hi all

My friend is having problems with sound in Kubuntu. He's using the onboard sound on a GA-G31M-S2L motherboard. Apparently it's a widespread problem. He can't seem to find a fix. I'll Google it later, maybe I can find a fix.

What can you guys recommend that is cheap and fully compatible in Linux/Kubuntu?
