Wondering if anybody here ordered / received the PCMCIA modem?
I'd appreciate feedback on the following:
- What is the reception like (e.g. difficulty in finding a good signal compared to a USB modem)?
- Is it possible to connect an external antenna to it?
- Is is possible to leave the card in a notebook e.g. how far does it stick out / will it still fit in a carry case while inserted?
- How does it affect your notebook battery if at all?
- I assume that the USB modem heats up because of the battery, which the PCMCIA card doesn't have... does the PC card heat up at all? (This question is relevant since my notebook uses a P4 2.6 Ghz desktop processor and tends to shut down due to it overheating).
- Just out of interest... Does the PCMCIA card also have a slot for a simcard? (as on the USB modem - Wondering if /when Sentech will implement sim cards.)
I know I can phone the friendly people at Sentech but would rather hear from an independant / objective source.[:p]
