So our IBurst goes down just now. I didn't even notice because I'm using adsl but my hubby next to me is using them.

Hubby : Our modem won't connect.
Helpdesk : Have you tried moving your modem sir?
Hubby : It's been working fine for 2 years where it's standing now.
Helpdesk : Please try and move your modem sir.
Hubby : I will not move my modem until you move your tower.

...don't think the helpdesk was too helpful after that but it was such a blast listening to that convo...

Hehehehe

that was a good one :D:D:D:D

How would moving a modem (which's been working for 2 years on the same spot) help improve the situation?

:D:D:D

They told my friend that perhaps a tree was in the way. Got to love the fact that they believe a tree could grow in a day... :D

What other advice do they have? :p :D My experience from call centre's, they take you down even futher...

I still remember mine with Telkom as if it was yesterday.

Tech : "Sir please reset your router", "Sir please reset your router"

Haha! I would love to get my hands on that flow chart!

kiepie : I remember from my Sentech days when we were still stupid enough to follow the Helpdesks advice. Spent hours moving the modem around, oh and the dish outside coz we had one of those too, only to find it miraculously working in the same place where we started.

lol :p

It took me 3 days to sort out my modem after that, all the TKP and WPA keys were messed up. I also learned the hard way. At the end of the day it was a connection error experience through the whole of Joburg! :D

lmao... that is a good one :D

but ya I remember each and every single problem I've encountered with their support.

"Sir please just move your modem so I can verify that you are getting full signal" - I am getting NO signal your tower is dead.
"Sir have you changed your MTU?" - any call is followed with this stupid comment
"Sir please unplug your modem from your router and plug it into your PC" - because of a authentication error my router is the problem.
"Sir you are capped" - reason for NO site, not even iburst.co.za works
"The weather is disrupting your signal" when it's a bright sunny day follow with a
"You wall's interfering with your signal"

Lastly when I phone them notify that their tower is not working because it's snapped in half and it's dangling on the roof of Hyde Park shopping centre! I get a response "Sir how do you know? Have you checked your MTU..."
