I've been wondering, with a population of about 1 billion people, one would think that a country such as India with so many people would have some athletes participate in the olimpic games, but there aren't any. I was just wondering why not? Evn countries such as Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Iran, and other middle earstern country are no where to be seen on the medals table or even on the sporting events. Ultimately my question is, why isn't India participating in the olympics?

Sport is not high on the to do list for most Indians. At school most of them hardly took part in any extra curricular sporting codes. They just went home.

India and Pakistan are pretty much only regarded for their cricketers, and hockey players (not of late).

There not really sporting nations - its just not in their culture.

Apart from the the cricket, hockey as mentioned.

And squash, the coolest sport never seen.

And shagging. Apparently they can do that pretty well. Just look at their population numbers and the Kama Sutra.

If shagging ever were an Olympic Sport ...
