Greetings,

With all the confusion around the availability of WAR in South Africa, I thought I would just let everyone know that BT Games have just confirmed the availability of the European version of the game for September 18th 2008!

Their website should be updated shortly.

Thank goodness I won't have to download this puppy... 10Gb on a 384 line...

Thanks BT Games!

That is the best news ive heard in a long ,long time :>

I learned my lesson with AoC and Hellgate. Will wait a few months for all the gamebreaking bugs to be fixed before I buy.

Pfft don't put this game in the same League as AoC and Hellgate!!!
Its way above!

I am really glad to hear this, I was just about to order the game to the UK and have a family member post it.

As some of you may know too, Hellbird and I are running a warhammer guild

http://forum.qqgaming.co.za/index.php

This is our temporary forums while we are busy working on our website.

Our guilds name in game will be Unrivaled and we are going to roll Order on an EU server (realm choice to be decided)

We encourage anyone that wants to embark with us into warhammer to sign up, so we can try and make the top SA guild and show those EU players how its done. :)

Open Realm FTL!!

The reason I say this, is in an "Open Realm" you are always flagged for RvR.
The chicken mechanic is entirely based off of your RvR flag, and what this means is that when you out level your lower tiers, you get chickened... IN YOUR OWN PvE AREA'S xD.
i.e. you can never go back there to do anything after a certain level. No power leveling, sight seeing, Tome unlocking, Friend Helping, Big Bad Boss solo fighting, etc etc.

Its a bit messed up at the moment, and there are no current plans to change it.

"Core Realms" however are almost identical to WoW PvP realms. All the "contested" area's are open for PvP for people of the equivilant tier just like the open realms, but in the PvE area's, you would have to flag yourself for RvR manually or by attacking an enemy first for any PvP to take place. This is exactly how the "Alliance" or "Hoard" controlled area's in WoW PvP realms work as well.

WAR is also a RvR (read PvP) based game, so there is no shortage of PvP action anywhere, and the developers have geared everything to work best in the classic "Core" environment. As far as "griefing " go's, its not even going to be possible in "Open" realms because of the chicken mechanic, so its not a factor.

Whilst I haven't really been following this, I'll most prollypick up a copy on the 19th or so. I just hope it doesn't end up like AoC i.e. patch your life away and post newbie zone, the game is a bit 'flat'.

Having said that, anyone have some good links as to where I can sit and read up on the game (Google yields too many results and too lazy to sift through them :o)

There are hundreds of posts complaining about the chicken mechanic.

I trust warhammer has the kind of people running it that listen to their users complaints, I believe that with the release, or shortly after, the chicken mechanic will definitely receive a do over or "nerf".

But as for now your right, unless they announce within the next two weeks they remade it, we will be rolling on a core server

mark my words, this game will suck.

ive been keeping my eye on this one for a while now, it doesnt look good, the concept is flat, 40k would have been more interesting. This will be a stamp-clone of world of warcraft, believe it or not, Warhammer just does not have the talent and experience Blizzard has, im sorry.

I was let down by Age of Conan, i realised then that the only great next MMO will be developed by Blizzard-Activision.

Consider your words marked, but just remember you will need to eat them in a few weeks :p
I hope you have lots of Tomato Sauce xD

(p.s. Did you know that the Warcraft world was originally the Warhammer world, but Blizzard had the rights pulled half way through, because Games Workshop was not happy with the quality! Explains a lot, doesn't it... :p)

Erm...As Far as I Know Mythic has twice the Experience that blizzard has with regards to creating MMORPG with Dark Age of Camelot.AS far as talent goes, well just look at WoW class balancing to this day 4 years after release, its a joke.

AoC yes, Hellgate i've forgotten about and wont be playing again.

We'll see a similar phenomenon with WAR as we did with AoC:

AoC gets released, 750 000 players leave wow.
Month later, 500 000 return to wow.

WOTLK is coming ;)

Whats this, ArenaNet is also still class balancing GW?

MMO's can never be balanced 100% due to new content in a persistent world

MMO's routinely balance their classes to keep things interesting. I'm sure they could have decided ages ago just to stop and leave things as they were, but the constant shifting around of nerfs and buffs gives an element of suspense.

It stops a scenario of 'Class X gets 5% more dps than the others, so from this point on X is the only dps class worth playing ever'.

I can guarantee you WAR will do the exact same thing.

Ok I don't want to turn this thread into a WoW/WaR flame item, but please can idiots refrain from judging an Unreleased game in Beta stage...I mean seriously:rolleyes:

big review of the beta. Hope it helps.

"Why settle for number two? Well, let’s not kid ourselves here; nothing is going to touch WoW until World of Starcraft is released. And, if EA, Funcom, or anyone else has even the slightest notion of trying to release within the same 90 day period as Wrath of the Lich King, may God have mercy on them, because Blizzard will have none."

Ok I will read the review now ;) but before that..

That quote you just gave me is exactly where people are misunderstanding.
Its doesn't really matter whether it beats WoW are not, that wasn't Mythic's objective, they have publicly stated that and besides its irrelevant. What they did with Warhammer was create a game that caters for a different segment of the MMORPG market entirely(a segment that no one else caters for and in all fairness WoW falls short in).

The group PvP/World PvP Market, focusing heavily on integrating the World Pve and Pvp seamlessly.Where it actually means something to attack the other realms City, where you can obtain the highest tier items through taking the enemy city and ransacking it.You can literally interfere with the enemies day to day playing and make life hard for them!

So its fine if War Doesn't even get past 1million subsribers...who needs them, cause I dunno about you all I need is
1) full server averaging about 5000 people ready and willing to try their best to pwn me.
2)An experienced and Dedicated Developer who listens to its player base and communicates
3)A guild of like minded people ready to give the enemy Hell

Ask yourself a question, can you really say that you prefer
Group Based Teamwork Vs a Pathetic AI
over
Group Based Teamwork Vs Humans
With that sad, I think about 90% of the reviews you've read confirm one thing WAR is lackluster in many area's To WoW,possibly light years behind, but one thing they all agree on,its Superior with Regards to PvP in Every Aspect.
Thats it ;)

Edit* oh yea and that review is an older outdated one for older Beta Version, which was 6 months ago.....LOL.....check out the latest one here
