Ok, now that I've got your attention , my wife heard the ad on 702 this morning, though it was at Stax but not... Makro has a birthday sale but their brochure doesn't say anything. Did anyone perhaps hear the add and know where it is?

Doesn't sound as good as R899.....

Nahh, couldn't turn up anything myself, my wife is quite clued up on PCs so I'm sure it must be accurate, hope it doesn't turn out to be a Yung Fine LCD form China ...

Its possible to get a 17" at that price - low refresh rate, dead pixels ...

At that price it is a very good deal, but it sounds more like 17" crt monitor pricing.

True, but they explicitly said that it's going at half-price. Didn't feel like listening to 702 all day long in case they repeated the ad

heard a add for portable dvd player with 7" screen at stax for R899 was on highveld, maybe just a hearing thing that the person listen thought they heard 17" screen for R899.... just a thought....simple mistake to make...easy enough....
