Time to get rid of my Telkrap line

Hey guys in a month or so i am throwing away my copper nightmare and joining the wireless heaven. The 128k package is all i can afford at this time but by the look of things most people are pretty happy with their new 24/7 connections. All i want to know is, what am i going to need to give Sentech exactly when I apply in the form of income statements etc etc.. as I want to be able to get it as fast as possible. Also I live in melveille and i live on a slope in a complex, is it nessesary to have line of sight to the Brixton tower? or does the modem work pretty much everywhere? Thanks good bye telkom

LOS isn't required, but if I'd definately suggest taking a "test drive" first before comitting. Find someone else in Melville, buy them a crate of beer, and have them do signal hunting on your property.

It depends on how you are signing up, as an individual you basically need to give salary slips or something (Not sure).

If you apply as a CC: make sure you provide them with an auditors report, physical address confirmation (eg telephone acc), copy of your ID, and the signed agreement.

PS: Be prepared for a LONG wait. I applied 27/03 and got it today 16/04. Call it four weeks.

I got mine in 9 days.

Bottom line, be firm, polite and keep phoning them every single day.

What you need is :-

2 page form (pdf download)
Salary slip or 3 months bank statements
Proof of residence (I just used my lease agreement)
Copy of id

After you've faxed it through, phone the fourways offices (number on sentech website) maybe a few hours later/next day to ask if they've received it - they lost mine and then found it while I was on the phone. Try to get to speak to a 'real' person who knows what they are doing in the admin section - that worked wonders for me. Take thier name down and be very friendly.

When that's done, wait about 2 days and phone again to enquire whether your credit check has been done - ask to speak to the same person.

Then phone after a few more days and ask when you can expect delivery because it's urgent.

As for Melville - it's covered. I've seen about 5 people posting here who say Melville has no coverage problems. Obviously your covered by the Brixton tower

Yes... be firm, polite, etc but also don't let them dare forget that YOU ARE THEIR CUSTOMER and deserve to be treated as such. They seemed to sometimes get a diety complex about them, so just make sure you don't take any of that crap.

Interestingly enough, they reserve the right to kick you right in the balls. They can terminate thier contract and make you pay for it !
