How to live successfully in SA today

Seeing there's so much discussion and affairs around SA and how tough or horrible it is nowadays, here is my personal shortlist of 5 items on how to make it in the current SA today.

1) Location: live in the Cape.
2) Career: make sure you are in a career with the best job prospects.
3) Costs: save, save, save. And forget about impressing the Jones.
4) Politics: don't worry about matters that influence others you don't know. Care about yourselfs and your loved ones. No-one else will anyways.
5) Life: be upbeat. Get up in the morning with a go-getter attitude and charge the day. Work hard but smart. Your attitude needs to be "Can" instead of "Can't".

As for being up beat: I'd be more upbeat if I wasn't reading belt-themed post all day long.

1 - OK, we'll all go ive in the cape then. But hang on, if we do that then the rest of the country will be empty and therefore crime-free. I'm moving back. Hang on, maybe everyone else will also move back. I'm staying. Hang on, the vagrants have moved to the cape as well. Hang on - ****.

2 - ah thank you. And al this time I was searching for a job with the worst possible career opportunities. Many thanks, this insight will serve me well for the rest of my life.

3 - Thanks, it wasnt expected. Seems you start ludicrous threads just so you can use this statement now. And I have searched through all of my acquaintances and none of them are a Jones, I am therefore exempt am I not?

4 - Politics - care about myself and my loved ones. Well thats what politicians do, but WTF does that have to do wth politics from my perspective? Dont worry about other things, just care for myself and my family. Doesnt matter how many times I repeat this to myself, it still makes forkall sense from a political perspective.

5 - Oh confucious, go hug a tree! If telling people to be happy actually made them happy, the mental therapy industry would have fallen many years ago. Merely saying "be happy" doesnt fscking work. What a waste of bandwidth this entire thread is. I have read more inspirational sugar packets...
 
I have plenty biscuits. Havent fed this one in ages - he's looking anorexic to me. Now his belt is loose again - we need to fatten up this [-]f[/-]duck ...

Lousy weather, and a tic infestation in the city centre.

Still have the official unemployment rate of 24.3, 19th highest in the world to deal with, add a bit for empowerment regulations.

3) Costs: save, save, save. And forget about impressing the Jones.

Obscene costs of Medical and Education.......No worries about the Jones' they emmigrated last year.

I CAN emmigrate, it's not as daunting as it seems.
 
How to be immortal

Seeing how tough or horrible it is to die nowadays, not to mention the inconvenience, here is my personal shortlist of 1 item on how to live forever

1) Don't die
 
Isn't Cape Town amongst the worst paying cities in the country?

I just checked career junction - I am earning roughly double of what my counterparts in CT earn...

If you have anything luxury you cannot afford, you are wasting money and risking yourself into financial ruin.

Of course not. You have to believe in yourself and engage yourself in a happy mode, for it to be effective. Charge, yes charge the day.

Cape Town can also be cheaper in many regards. Fuel, to name one.

Anycase, if programmers can earn R400 per hour in Cape Town, I'd call that a good salary, and doubt the same programmer can earn R400x2=R800 per hour in Gauteng.

1) The Cape is a part of SA...hence the problems faced in the rest of the country (crime especially) are a problem in the Cape.
2) Who wouldn't pick a career with the best prospects? Unfortunately a career with the best prospects in the beginning may look less viable over the years. One look at the past shortage of IT staff versus the over saturation of present is a prime example. Unfortunately it is quite tough to make a change of career late in the game.
3) More belt tightening? How long will it take before having a car will become a luxury in this supposed 1st world country?
4) What a selfish attitude to have. If we still lived under apartheid laws would you recommend all whites to ignore it's influence on non-whites?
5) A positive attitude will motivate you, but unfortunately no amount of positive thinking will correct ****ty government policies.
