I am on the fence actually. He is a complete and utter moron, and obviously his lack of schooling is a concern.

In my opinion, will we see the end of Press freedom under this man?
Or an end to Judiciary independence?

Anyone see Gwede Mantashe's comment: "Chris Nicholson is not a counter-revolutionary judge,". That concerns me... And Malema concerns me.

Here is what i see for the future. Zuma not charged with anything, or case is postponed for years... either way he makes president.

He promised all his supporters free everything, and an awesome life for them (thats why they pushing so hard for him to make the highest office in the country). But he will have to restrain himself until 2010 is over... cause the entire planet is watching south africa. We have to make things look good for the tourists and CNN. Once 2010 is over, all bets are off.

I see a drastic change at the top - all ministers, and major positions going to Zumas cronies. Now the question is, whether he can take a good hard look at Zimbabwe and actually LEARN from it, and not go down the same path. But I have very little faith in him or any of the african leaders, they dont learn, they dont think either.

They only care about things in the short term (let me steal this farm, and ill be rich... atleast for a month or two) The ANC is already pushing this new land act (its scary).

I love SA, its my home, but im keeping my EU passport very close, because im betting ill be needing it withing 2-3 years.
 
I think he wont be bad, there is too much money and power behind him, the only problem is the chickens that will run away, taking their skills with, will cause a vacuum.

Everyone is dodgy, mbeki took a 30m bride and everyone ignores it. All governments at some point take bribes.
So you guys are happy with mbeki? personally i cannot wait for the day he out, i hate him and he is destroying the country.

Zuma will hopefully make this country better because lets be honest unless he pulls a zimbabwe he cannot really do any worse than mbeki has done.
My feelings are Zuma will be good for this country, well better than mbeki anyhow.

My sentiments exactly, in a way I hope that zuma becomes president and then we see how anc, youth league, communist party etc. rip each other apart.

If zuma rewards them for their support, he will alienate the business community since communist party has some radical (stupid) idea's and intellectually challenged molema is sure to also want his slice of the pie etc.

change is in the air and it will make a teabagging session on BF2 seem tame in comparison.

Let the fun begin, everything happens for a reason and sometimes we have to look at the bigger picture and not our own short-term disappointments.

The run up to the elections is going to be great fun, and I for one am interested how zuma is going to please all the people who he has promised to help

eish!! he might not survive to stand in the elections if he upsets to many of the different parties.

as for today's judgment, unfortunately the judge had no option other than to rule like he did, and stuck to the letter of the law and for that I commend him, it is the prosecutors who fooked up.

No, I'm not too worried.

I believe in democracy and Zuma is the most popular leader this country has had in a long time. I think the poor in this country have been ignored for too long and it my hope that Zuma will make poverty alleviation his priority. While many see his lack of formal education as a bad thing, I disagree. He is educated (though he lacks the formalities) and smart and he knows what it's like to be poor. I think he understands the needs of the majority of South Africans more than an educated leader such as Mbeki does.
(not to mention that many of the tyrants in the world were highly educated, one only has to look at mad bob to know that education alone does not make a great leader)

I have great hope for the future...

(Since I'm often wrong though, I too will be keeping my EU passport very close):rolleyes:
 
Amazing how those with E.U and U.S passports are always the most hopeful for this country

I could be wrong - but my feeling is that Mbeki just ignored the country; he didn't help much, but he didn't hurt it much either. I'm afraid Zuma will actually hurt the country.

and won't be leaving just yet...
Many on this thread have indicated they are leaving if Zuma becomes president. I assume some if not all have passports. So no they are not the most hopeful. The most hopeful are the Zuma supporters who have no other passport which is possibly the majority of South Africans...

Mbeki has been a disaster for this country. 200 000 South Africans murdered alone during Mbeki's presidency. Supporting Mugabe, billions wasted on the arms deal......Zuma will just be the next step up in incompetence
