Don't 5 years go by in a blitz. Its coming up to that time, where we have to endure LONG lines and an ugly ink blot on your finger just to make a mark next to your party of choice. :)

So I thought I should remind forumites of checking if their details are all in order with the IEC. And I know some of here are in varsity, so most could not vote last time around, and they can find out where and how to get this done.

What is the rule on permanent residents voting? How long does my wife have to be a permanent resident in order to vote? She is not a citizen, just a permanent resident.
 
Busy completing my Standard Form 76A (Rev. 10-2005) - REGISTRATION AND ABSENTEE BALLOT REQUEST - FEDERAL POST CARD APPLICATION (FPCA) as I type this. :)

She cant unless she becomes a citizen.

I have no idea if I am registered to vote or not. Either way it doesn't bother me as JZ is going to be prez next year regardless.
 
I do not vote. Voting is a right, not an obligation. I choose not to exercise this right.

Since I do pay taxes (albeit in instalments :) ), I am vocal about the government. I criticise when I feel like they deserve it and I give credit where credit is due.
 
I need to register to vote. Also encouraging everyone I know to register, to many people I know don't even bother registering because the ANC will win.
 
My concern is that if people get too complacent about voting then one of these days when the national election comes round again, you'll see a required name and address field on your ballot paper!

I think that this is one of the applications of this new ID card the guavamint is toying with
