Electricity sabotaged by municipal strike in PMB

The municipal workers at Msunduzi have embarked on a strike and managers have confirmed that electricity supply has been sabotaged, and in some parts of the city water supply has been cut off.

We were out all morning :mad:. I heard on the news they're barricading administrators in their offices and "encouraging" other workers to join the strike. Refuse hasn't been collected but thankfully the water has not been disrupted for us yet
 
Yip, heard about that too. What did you expect though? Strikes have happened so often no-one really cares, so they have to take it even 1 step more. But do what the rest of us are doing, taking the rubbish on sundays to the dump, by a generator, and hope the water keeps running...

The interdict compels workers to stop assaulting, intimidating employees, agents and customers of the municipality and from obstructing access to municipal buildings.

A striker was arrested following the hijacking of a refuse removal truck in the waste management division. The refuse truck was being escorted by two security vehicles when a third municipal vehicle blocked its way.

A worker disembarked from the car, yanked the keys out of the truck’s ignition and fled with them.

According to acting municipal manager Zwe Hulane, two shop stewards were also arrested. He said further arrests are imminent.

Strikers took to the streets on Wednesday over wage demands. They held the city to ransom by cutting power and water to most parts of the city.
