Car sound upgrade - I'm a noob

I have a Opel Corsa Utilty, came with the stock sound system which I would like to upgrade.

Am I right in thinking it would it be possible to buy an amp + new speakers and have them fitted?

Basically, I dont want to replace the existing radio/CD player, just want it to pump out a bit more sound.

I've noticed there are 4 speaker 'holes' already in the cab, but only the two in the front doors have speaker in, the two in the back are speaker-less. There are also two little tweeters on the doors where the front mirrors are.

So I'm thinking, four new speakers + amp + fitting?
 
Just be careful if your sound can support adding amps.

I have a Polo that came with a factory fitted MP3 Player and needed to add Two Subs and two Amps. Just after Putting the thing apart, we noticed that My Tape does make provision for the RC Cables. I am now either looking for some kind of an adapter to allow the amps to be connected or to buy a new tape.:mad:

Thanks. Maybe I'm poking a hornet's nest, but, any suggestion on what brands to look for?

I'm looking for a nice clear sounds rather just a lot of base.
 
Infinity has given me the clearest sound I've heard and enjoyed :)
6inch, 2 ways accompanied by mids and tweeters.
 
theres lots of threads on car sound. search the forum, you'll find quite a few. Personally I've been loving my Rockford sound.

You need to check whether the headunit has RCA's for aux-out

If yes then proceed in buying an amplifier and some speakers.


Along with this i'd recommend a Parametric equalizer and a Electronic 3way crossover seeing as you seem to be wanting more clarity rather than boombastic sound :)
Get a Strong bridgeable amp and a second small amp with 2/4 channels.

Pop a pair of limpids into a small box in the back. Pair of Coaxials or a split system with mids in the doors and tweeters to replace the standard ones.

I tend to go for Infinity or JBL for nice crystal-clear audio or Pioneer for a cheaper alternative that does the job well :)
 
More than likely, it won't have RCA's out :( Many car radios built into the dash don't have *sigh*

The installer will supply a converter from the speaker line iout nto the amplifier - so it won't be an issue. Yes, this way does degrade sound but it's your only choice. Also it's not terribly degraded sounded.

My advice? Coaxial in the back (which are currently speakerless) and splits up front (tweeters near the mirrors) and larger driver in the door. Get thicker speaker cables (no need for a brand - just thicker!) as they do make a difference. Add a 4 channel amplifier and BOOM ... upgraded sounds sans much bass :)

Peh its a corsa..they can take aftermarket radios :)

Lineout converters doth not crystal clear sound make :S
 
I'm sure it can take other radios, but he said he doesn't want t ;)

I did say it degrades - just not as badly as some people make out .... like 720p and 1080p isn't as massive as people would have you believe :P

Sometimes the customer isn't right ;)

Like the diff between 128 and 192kbps audio streams. Most won't notice,at high volumes I do :P
