Hi Guys

Just curious but I've been checking my line since last friday...pings to saix.net and is.co.za and found that this morning and las night the % loss to local sites were around 30% which is allot. Just wanted to know if anyone else is experiencing this but international pings seem unaffected and I get around 10% loss. Your feedback is much appreciated.

Current tower: 102(Sunningdale)
Frequency: 2530
Signal Strength: 34%
SNL : 15-17%
BER: 71%
Additional info: I installed a 21dbi antenna to see if it could improve the overall performance. The pings have now stabilised and the ping spikes have decreased allot but the loss has increased.

I know this is off topic, but why use OpenVPN and not IPSec?
Easier to set up?
IPSec usually takes me hours to get running.
I need to VPN between FreeBSD, Win XP, Win 2003 server and Linux.

OpenVPN = install libssl, and compile. Runs on Linux, Solaris, OpenBSD, FreeBSD, NetBSD, Mac OS X, and Windows 2000/XP etc and is quite fast. I barely notice the encapsulation overhead. Supports static-key based conventional encryption (5 minute setup) or certificate-based public key encryption (more involved)

Plus it does Ethernet briding, tunnels within tunnels, uses TCP, or UDP happily, doesn't worry too much about NAT'ed connections or dynamic IP's and has link compression, and traffic shaping.

Oh. And it's free :)

Need more reasons?
