Anybody get this ?

How long from when your appliaction was submitted till you got your modem ?

took about 10 days all told - signed up on the 27th of April [yup - no wire came out on the public holiday] and got my modem last friday [7th] - was up and running on saturday, after I plugged the modem in to charge and promptly forgot about it.

sliktrik,

Who did you order through? DIRECTLY through nowire?

With me, if the customer decides he/she wants the modem there and then, and they pay for it, they get it there and then immediately. IE, they are online right away.

Donovan, how do you supply it so quickly ?

I want to get it throught nowire, but my a friend of mine signed the papers and paid in full while I was there 9 working days ago, and he tells me all he has is a reference number so far, and the agent says no word yet on when he will get the modem.

Well, I come with stock of modems. I do a signal test, and if you decide that you want it, you pay me for the modem and activation (either by cash, electronic transfer or by credit card on the form/contract), fill in the form, sign it etc.

I then connect you to an interim username and password (on a default 256k package), which you use for about 3 weeks. Nowire will then call you with your new login details, and the interim username/password will lapse.

I wonder who your friend ordered through - did he call Nowire directly?

He says he called nowire directly and they said they will send someone over the next day.

The guy arrived while I was there
He did a signal test for R150 and my firensd filled in the nowire forms and said he will do a electronic transfer.

The agent told him to phone nowire for the banking details, which he did and transfered the money. The guy then phoned the next day and gave him a reference number from nowire.

That was now 10 working days ago. Still nothing

But i will get hold of you on your e-mail for my modem

It should take about 2 days, depending on payment method, cash, cheque, tranfers, credit card .......

It is quicker when you have stock on hand.

Donovan - what are you going to to when Mr. Smith dies ?

Dont think Mr. Smith will die, but he will have his running boots removed [:D]

Well Mr. Smith is not so much of a legend as the 512 brigade, but he does make life easier.

I was told that he is terminal .....[V]

Heh... well I am busy working on Nowire to give us proper interim user names. We're down to 7 days processing time now apparently, so hopefully almost all new users will be up on their own username/password before the plug is pulled, so to speak.

ProAsm, how difficult would it be to implement some sort of "rotating" interim usernames? That way, each new client gets a temporary 128k package, valid for say 2 weeks, and there will be no problem like the one we have with "mr smith"?

Also, ProAsm, you mentioned that the "512 brigade" would be turned off - but also, that Smith wouldn't be removed from the system, what did you mean by "running boots removed"? You guys going to cut the speed of that account? It's a plan... I still think the rotating usernames would be better. How did the "512 brigade" get modems?

More importantly - NoWire is going to eventually move to a system where us agents buy a username and password, as included with the price... that way, there will be no interim period... I think that works best.
