Ok so Mbeki resigned, (Thats what Zuma wanted) so the new person is only supposed to be interim till the next election... so he is being appointed presidency and not elected by the people - so why is Zuma not part of the selection even though he is president of the ANC... doesn't make sense?

Zuma is not part of this selection, 'cause he's not a member of parliament. Only members of parliament can be chosen for this interim position. Same reason why the DA didn't nominate Hellen Zille - she's also not a member of parliament.
 
Thanks hypo... it all makes alot more sense to me know - I have never been one for politics, but in my little world of "logic" I presumed it would/could be Zuma....

Why don't the threads/posts in this section come up on new posts? (or is it just me) thats why I asked twice cos I didn't know where my post was... LOL
