Seems they use peer pressure to justify everything about schools these days, honestly how many kids under peer pressure will be forced into satanism? Typical huisgenoot article.
 
Peer pressure comes from somewhere. There are delinquents whose parents just don't bother or couldn't care less to educate their ruffians about life, this includes discipline. You know the scumbags in schools come from somewhere and that somewhere is some dysfunctional family - sometimes its divorce, sometimes its alcohol other times its just a care-free laissez-faire attitude of new age parents. The few pollute and contaminate the many and those particular students should be removed and placed is schools set aside just for them. There won't be much peer pressure after that, except maybe for brand name clothes, music and cell phones.

They're just over-reacting as usual. It fascinates me how satanism is so widespread there, but overseas people laugh it off and it's such a marginalised topic. No matter where I look in SA press, there's ALWAYS something about satanism and its dangers. Anyone else noticed this?

When I was in SA last year, I was shown a DVD about 'things you cant have in your house because they attract satan' and other education DVD's about how to avoid getting involved with satanism. Ohh yes, and 'what it's like in hell' - there was a guy fulling giving a description of hell and they were showing images and videos (he had been there temporarily apparently) :confused::confused:
 
Every now and then some messed up kid does something crazy like stab another kid in the neck with a samurai sword and blames it on Satan. This is what has created this myth of an underground Satanist cult.
The control freak, nut job parents, teachers and church types are too stupid to see its their own religion that has given these kids the ultimate scapegoat and brainwashed them into believing in it.

Sorry people, you fccked up these kids with your whacked out beliefs and *****ty parenting. ITS YOUR FAULT! Accept responsibility for your actions or lack there of and stop expecting sane, rational people to believe in your horror stories.

True. But some kids are just simply psychopaths.

What normal @%£"ing child doesn't rebel against authority or tell white lies, or get older and 'emotionally detached' from time to time? If my kids never did one day now that would be cause for concern.

Except the established 'cult' is responsible for you actually having a civilised life (society, civilisation and culture) while the other just wants to usurp everything with it's own naive BS ideas of anarchy.

I didn't RTFA but I assumed the issue at hand was juvenile delinquency culminating in anti-social behaviour, bulling, drugs, rape and ultimately murder. I didn't think this was about some kids worshipping goats.
 
Can we get the thread back on topic. I really don't give a F#$% about satanism (frankly, I think it is a myth), but I am concerned about the ridiculous reporting on iol about it.

The ridiculous reporting is fairly standard and not unique to South Africa. It is a topic on which the reporting is always long on hysteria and short on facts.

Pretty much

The entire article is basically telling people not to panic, not to jump to conclusions, and to get educated. It then goes on to break all 3 of those rules for the rest of the article.

Interesting stuff.

Satanism in schools can pose a very dangerous situation for teachers. In certain environments the organisation does believe Satanism poses a threat to its members. It is an issue we make all our members aware of and try to assist them where possible

He makes it sound like some sort of conspiracy theory. All those things - lying, rebellion, etc - could point to any number of things - like, I dunno, drug abuse, theft, gangs, hormones running riot ... ANYTHING!!
