Bay of Plenty (North Beach) was switched on at 11:30 this morning.
Please note this tower will still be in a test phase for about 2 weeks.
All tweaking has been completed.
Further tweaking may be necessary on the 240 degree antenna once Overport (Inverness) comes on stream.

Can i vote Proasm as CEO sentech. Tower goes live 11h30. Posts to forum 11h50. [:D][:D] Any Idea how far up the hill (Berea) the signal will get?
 
yep! he's the only Sentech person that actually cares enough to TALK to the users - kudos for that Pro! *applaud*

Nice signal, better than I expected, although this may change slightly once Overport comes on.

Daveogg, the antenna was adjusted to include Ridge Road, but once Inverness comes on steam, this could be pulled down slightly to end around Musgrave Road area.
Inverness will then flood the Ridge Road area.

And thats from Durban, so subtract 22 ms for the IS link to JHB = 72 Ave.
Thats just to compare it with the Gautengers [:D]

Well my pings have deterorated a lot. Now it is
Minimum = 119ms, Maximum = 342ms, Average = 200ms

Used to average around 80 or 90ms. But even then it was very volatile. Some pings were as low as 52ms. 52ms + 22ms = 74ms which is faster than dbnnet's current result.

Call me cynic, but tech companies doesn't send their tech staff overseas unless there is some real problems. Have IP wireless provided us with a way to choose the tower and / or frequencies ? No. Does they need to send someone over to come and see what the problem is ? No, they can email us the firmware. Is the volatile pings specific to SA, or can the problem be also be duplicated in the US...

This sounds like one big sales party.

Heya Nic,

AFAIK they are here for the first UMTS Conference - arranged by FastComm / Sentech.

Maybe IPWireless/Sentech have some other things on the go....
