A man who was hit by a truck near the city's downtown was also slapped with a citation. Boise police ticketed Ebrahim Balah, 62, for jaywalking shortly after the accident Wednesday.

Police said Balah suffered minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital as a precaution.

Police said he was hit by a passenger truck while trying to cross a busy one-way street. Officials said the section Balah tried crossing is not a designated walkway and pedestrians are not permitted to cross.

They should fine people in SA also for J-Walking

It's very unsave and causes allot of pedestrian deaths

In the UK a guy on a scooter got knocked over. While the paramedics were loading him into the ambulance, a traffic cop was busy writing a ticket for his bike because it was parked incorrectly...it was still laying on the floor *shakes head*

I agree. But what happens here is that you hit a pedestrian walking on the N1 or N2, and they will open a case against you and check if you weren't perhaps speeding. Meanwhile it is not legal to walk next to or on the N1, not even riding a bicycle, or a 50cc motorbike/scooter.

Yeah, when you take the N1-4 anywhere you will drive through a "Plakkerskamp" area and if you hit a person running over the Highway (wich is illegal!!!) you will be investigated :(

Exactly. They can't control those f0ckers who will walk where they like even though they have pedestrian bridges, so let's target the motorists. Easy targets hey. Funny how you almost always see fixed speed cameras in the vicinity of a township next to a national highway. George is a good example.

+1 :(

I was glad to see they built a big/high wall along the N4 between the two sides of the plakkerscamp :D....Now the people are forced to use the bridge :D

...and these bridges are normally covered with some kind of wire mesh. They think it is for their own safety, meantime it is to stop them form throwing bricks and stones at cars.
