High gain antennas in no signal areas

I am 4.9km from the Horizon View tower. I have no signal with the modem antenna in a pringle. Is there a chance I would get a workable signal if I installed an outdoor high gain antenna?

Nowire Village Walk had two 21db outdoor parabolic antennas in stock this morning, for just under R1000, including pigtail. These are extremely directional though - you may need a professional installer if you do not know location of your tower.

One would still need low loss cabling though - these are approx. R40/m., I estimate.
 
A GPS would work wonders if you knew the tower locations. I think ProAsm posted tower coordinates in a thread a while ago. Or two people with mirrors on either side if you wanna do it 18th century style.

Add to that the connectors, brackets and sealant as well.
