October is Public Transport Month in Gauteng, and with all the current roadworks taking place along our streets, now is as good a time as any to start looking into the use of Johannesburg's Metrobus system.

The Metrobus system serves most of the Greater Johannesburg area, including the Johannesburg CBD, Johannesburg South, Johannesburg East, Randburg CBD, Sandton, and all surrounding areas. Fares vary from R6.50 to R15.90 depending on the number of zones travelled, and decrease in price when used in conjunction with pre-loaded bus tags. The almost 80 routes serve most of the major universities in the city - think of not having to find parking at Wits everyday!

Metrobus buses are safe, clean and reliable, with the majority of the fleet having been replaced in the past five years.

PM me for more information regarding bus routes and timetables. Let someone else do the driving, so you can make better use of your time in traffic.

No thanks... I don't like having to wake up at 4:30 AM to catch 3 different buses just to get near my work.

Maybe this is true in Gauteng..

But I'd have to catch a minimum of 3 buses to get to my offices in Durban, and the bus system here is in a complete shambles so there is no guarantee of them working...

Plus as a side issue, I refuse to subsidise Dr-Sutcliffe's little money making scam anymore than I have to with paying my rates.

If I used the bus system then I'd only show up at Uni 1/2 the time. Sometimes if they are running late then they turn around at the 2nd last stop and leave out the last one on the line.

I'll use a car until a viable alternative is available.

In all likelihood it would only be 2 buses.

In my experience I've never known them to leave out a stop to make up time. Infact most of the time the buses have been running late it's been due to traffic and not due to lateness on the driver's part, meaning you'd arrive late be it by car or bus.
