How to tell if you getting crossfire ?

I have 2 4870's, ati ccc says i am crossfired gpu z says crossfire able but not activated.

Which do i believe ?

(3dmark06 85k or so but 3dmark06 17k)
 
Take out one 4870 and see if the score changes. You should see about 40% difference.
 
Have not tried vantage, was getting 19k with a single and an e8400 at 4k. This was with a q6600 at 3 but cpu should not make that much difference.

p.s. if i could get the bloody Q to fly faster i would, not sure if it is the mobo or chip itself holding me back. (Killa even your chip will not reach more than 3.2)

Not quite sure how you could get 19k in 3dmark06 with a dual core man. You got the screenie for that? Even at 4.0ghz a dual core won;t hit 4k in the cpu test, post a screenie of the cpu your 17k 3dmark score. Would like to see the cpu score with the q6600, then post a screenie of the dual core @ 4.0ghz.


Problem QX is that i am running watercooling which keeps the cpu temps very low and you can add good volts, with summer coming you won't get that cpu 3.2ghz on air man. Look at getting some water on that cpu man. Winter is good for overclocking on air because obviously the air moving through your box is cold but in summer temps on air go through the roof.

cpu temp 31 using ThermalRight 120 so temps are not an issue, shall have a look for the screenies i am sure i still have them around.

p.s. I think the 19k was with oced 4850's in CF with the E84 :p

Just need to try and get the machine back up and running, bad overclock so i have to reset cmos the old fashioned way (this never happened when i had the 8400 in)
 
You must remember the q6600 is not a cpu you just slap some fsb and some volts and you get it stable, the e8400 you slap on some volts and get it 4.0ghz easily because its 45nm. The q6600 takes alot of time in finding what works and what does not.

I found with it the main problems i ran into in getting it stable at 3.56ghz was the north bridge needed volts, i ran my memory below its rated speed and i gave it around 1.45v, this was on my gigabyte mobo with both north bridge and cpu water cooled.

Yes crossfire 4850's 19k but no single 4850 or 4870 will hit 19k with a dual core cpu.
 
If only my pc was working, then I could tell u. :( LoL. I also have the E8400 running at 3.6 and a 4870x2, which is basically 2x 4870.
 
Not my first Q6600 and my previous one was running at 3.6 easily :)

Something to do with all the settings on the p5q which i will eventually work out
 
Going to try single card and see what i get (managed to get the system back up and running)
 
I had almost the same thing with my 2x 8800GTX's. I know SLI was on, but in 3dmark, it said something about it not being enabled or used... Can't remember, but I just ignored it, cause I could see from the score that it was working.
 
lol 15553, so cf must have been running but i am heavily dissapointed with the score :(

Need to get the oc up to decent levels.
 
That using the q6600? 15k is pretty good for one card man.

Even with decent oc you won't more than a 1k increase :), The sad thing about crossfire and sli is you only get about 30% performance increase when putting the second card in which good but still a let down :)

Not sure what you mobo you got the q6600 to 3.6ghz easily but it took me along time to get the right formula to land 3.5ghz and keep it stable, getting the q6600 to 3.6ghz is easy its keeping it stable that is tricky.

Yea i have heard that asus have alot more settings.
 
P5K if i recall correctly, using it on another render system at the moment with a Q9300 i think so i am stuck with the P5Q or changing to the DS3R which i am not in the mood for right now :)

I understand the 30-40% increase but i only got a 10% increase, shall drop to cat 8-8 and see if that helps
 
AMD driver Catalyst control center. That really isn't a bad score for one card, but I have never used 06 to compare my pc or rate a pc.
