Slowdown of Speeds?

Well, the speed on this forum this afternoon/evening is weird. One moment it's quick, the next it's just sitting there loading, active topics only . Opened up another page to the Saitek forum (UK based I think), went through 4 saitek pages while "Active topics" was trying to load
 
LoneGunman that is 4 kBITS not kbytes meaning as long as you are getting more than 0,5 KB/s you are getting more than the "guaranteed" minimum.
 
you ****ing think paying 650 a month for a minimum of 4k is a ripoff?
try paying 1.5k!!!! [:(!]

Why do you have to "put your two cents in"... but it's only a "penny for your thoughts"? Where's that extra penny going to?
 
Guys stop talking about these contention ratio's I dont think we can grasp how much bandwidth they have and how much it would take for them to even think of cutting down on how much they give us. They are having probs yes, but as ProAsm will tell u the service is very very far from capacity.. or am I wrong sir?

They are talking about contention ratios because this is the crap the call centre is feeding customers hoping it will make them go away. I'm sure Sentech does have the capacity, the problem is that somewhere in all this wonderful capacity there is an econo-sized buttplug preventing everyone from getting the full Sentech experience [;)]

Awwwwgh, NOT AGAIN... Getting 3.5 KB/S--Normally 12KB/S. I'm getting realy GATVOL for this service I'm getting. Could not connect at work in Midrand the hole day "Remote computer not responding" and now This when I arrived home. NO come on Sentech!!!
 
i know its not the contention ratios, i'm not THAT stupid... well... maybe... anyway

I just find it ****ed up that people with 128k bitch about the money they spend on a service that gives them 4k speed, hell, i pay twice as much as you mother ****ers and I dont bitch half as much as you do! no really... check my posting history... i dont bitch about the speed... much.... [;)]

I am in agreement, the speed tonight is crappy. Sentech get it sorted ASAP.

I have had this crap for 2 weeks (512)k and it's slower than
56k dail up. For R1500 a month it's just not worth it.
Proving to be another SA rip - off. New subscribers beware!!
Sentech make Telkom look like winners.
Two weeks of crap !!
Now... how does one get out of 2 year contract? Mind boggling.
Also, wait untill you go shopping at Broadband Zone and see their
prices.... R250 for Ethernet cable. R180 for pig-tail.

Well ive been flying at 31Kb/s the whole day , so now slow down here
 
I'm having problems in Pta, Kilnerpark tower. S L O W!!!! Very slow. I'm hoping its just **** they need to sort out so holding of a little. Torrent is alright but browsing is like swimming through cement! PROASM needs to kick some ass again!

Well I'm a rabid Telkom hater and thought it was a foregone conclusion that I would sign up for MyWireless.

I'm starting to have some doubts now ... which isn't a good sign for Sentech.

It's not so much the technical problems themselves that disturb me (they do, but they're expected to some extent) ... What REALLY disturbs me is the the way Sentech is responding to the problems. Technical problems can be fixed relatively easily ... corporate culture problems are rather less tractible.

Well- my connection went down around 2am and came back up around 8:45. Apparently this was scheduled downtime for work on Mintek. I am on the 128 package and since this work I have been able to go above 13K/s for this first time in many weeks.

So- whatever whoever changed on that, please leave it alone now?

And thanks for fixing it... now I might just be able to download Fedora2 in less than a month [;)]
