Sad news, man was traveling with wife on highway between Malibongwe and William Nicol towards Sandton and he hit a rock planted by these mother ****ers and then got out. Bang....murdered in cold blood by these barbarians.
:(:(:(:(
Burn in hell you bastards.

Back in 2000 I worked with people who had a close escape from one of these... back then they used tires also...

The car was screwed but they drove away on the rim to safety.

So marine you would stop and put your family at risk to kill people?

Why do people get out of their cars when they hit rocks, stay in your car and get far away, a brave man is more than often a dead one.

Because they probably need to change the wheel?

Tell me do you like trolling this early in the morning all the time or are you just soft in the head?

This so sad, but do you really think that they will ever catch these bastards

Look, if the cops do their job properly and they get forensic evidence then yes I hope so but this is not the problem. The problem is getting a solid conviction in this joke of a country

Unlightly... A mate of mine had her Merc jacked by a gang running from the cops, they got away but the vehicle was retrieved the next day. The detective then claimed that what they do is dump the get away car and if it's not retrieved by either the cops/tracker they take it and use it in another robbery.

My question to her is if the cops assume the gang will return why do they not lie in wait and ambush and arrest them when they return?

Keystone cops....

Any suggestions on how to stop these sort / avoid these type of crimes

ja wat jou goed en trek. However leaving the country really does nothing for the hate one has of these thugs. I probably hate them more since leaving but at least i know that the possibility of it happening to me or my family is like 0. I have much more of a chance of being bitten by a sheep here when changing a tire.

Yeah here are some :

1. Look where you're driving. I've dodged rocks in the road before but you have to be alert especially at night. It's amazing what one really can avoid when you're alert.

2. If you hit something don't stop until you've driven at least out of sight of the "accident" scene. Most rims don't break on impact and you can drive on them for quite a distance even if it sounds and feels bad. That's just common sense but it seems that a lot of people are still lacking in that area.

3. Don't drive these highways (or actually any desolated roads) at 03.45 in the night.

Isn't the N1 completely covered by cameras?
I saw a program on Sky News not so long ago where the N1 highway is monitored by 24hr surveillance, and if a car ends up stationary on the road, police or tow trucks are dispatched immediately.
This system is also apparently completely automated, as well as being monitored by staff.

No, they haven't been able to for the last 8 years.. and I have very little faith in the SAPS

You've clearly never set foot in Gauteng have you? It is better to drive the highway at night, than to use the back roads that go past known hijack danger zones. This happened not too far from where I live, to get there at that hour I will not drive the back roads even if you paid me

Probably asleep instead of doing their job. Besides these cameras are ultimately for making money by means of speed trapping.

Clearly not 24h.

Ahahaha... sorry.. you just reminded me of something!

(sorry not laughing at the poor guy, prayers for his family)...

Remember a few years back they tried this in Glenvista with a lady in a 4x4 on Klipriver drive??? she saw the rocks in the road and went offroad to go around them. She drove over a few bumps on the side of the road. When the cops went back to look she had driven over the hijackers!!!! :D
