Samsung i900 Omnia vs Apple iPhone 3G vs HTC Touch Diamond review

Due to my desire to research phone features on the internet as a result of me being on the market for a new phone I am always on the lookout for comparative reviews.

Part of this research led me to a review as stated in the title. Now I know their is a lot of interest in these phones on this forum so I thought I'd share it :

Up front I'll take pleasure in pointing out that overall the Omnia came out tops but one thing that this review does show is that it really boils down to what you really want from your phone. The iPhone scores high on internet browsing but shocking on the camera section.

Anyway for those of you considering any of these phones, just a little more assistance. I found it useful but it does not help that it does not throw the N82 into the mix as it is not a touch screen. :)
 
Also for those interested that website does individual reviews of the three phones in question and more importantly the N82 too! :) So I checked to see what the ratings on the individual reviews for the four phones were and here are the results in order (!!!) :

Nokia N82 Review
Appeal

Christian Dior: 1 of 10 Very low
I would never notice it in the crowd.

Average Joe: 1 of 10 Very low
It has lots to offer but at a price.

Corporate US: 1 of 10 Very low
I'd prefer an E-series model.

High-Tech junkie : 10 of 10
Very high It packs excellent camera and lots of features, typical for high-class N-series phone.

Samsung OMNIA Review
Appeal

Christian Dior: 6 of 10 Average
That’s one of the loveliest smartphones, but there are still better looking solutions on the market.

Average Joe: 1 of 10 Very low
Too expensive and complicated for me.

Corporate US: 9 of 10 Very high
Great browse and a very convenient, although software keyboard. I definitely like it.

High-Tech junkie: 10 of 10 Very high
All-in-one. MY FUTURE PHONE!

HTC Touch Diamond Review
Appeal

Christian Dior: 10 of 10 Very high
This will be an “it” device.

Average Joe: 8 of 10 High
TouchFLO 3D makes Windows Mobile almost pleasant to work with. Everyday users looking for a bit more in a phone won’t find a better device not made by Apple.

Corporate US: 9 of 10 Very high
The onscreen keyboard will scare some away, but all the tools are there.

High-Tech junkie: 10 of 10 Very high
Only shortcoming we see is lack of expandable memory.

Christian Dior: 10 of 10 Very high
The standard.

Average Joe: 8 of 10 High
It’s still the easiest phone to use, and the App Store makes it that much more powerful.

Corporate US: 6 of 10 Average
Exchange support is huge and the App Store will open new doors, but the keyboard is still holding it back.

High-Tech junkie: 7 of 10 High
It has so much potential, but lacks many basic features like video, MMS, voice dialing and stereo Bluetooth.

Hmmm, wondering where you got that from?

I merely posted a review which showed the Omnia to be better than the iPhone and Touch Diamond. This was related to a thread which stated that the iPhone shredded all other phones.

I then also showed, in the subsequent thread, that the same website rated the N82, and the other phones, on an individual basis and the N82 came out tops. Now my conclusion is that although the Omnia may have beaten the iPhone and the HTC is the three way comparison that was done, but the N82 got a higher rating than the Omnia, HTC and iPhone so therefore the N82 must be better than all three (according to the website!).

Now this will lead me to believe that my view has still not changed that the N82 is the best! And after around one month of owning it, this view still holds!!

BTW, did u check out the 6220, its freeking cool, at half the price!
Also got 5MP xenon and GPS and the latest software. Only 139 on Anytime 100 and 200 on anytime 200. I'm definitely going for it

Well I can't really tell from my response where I showed that I took it as an insult? I merely clarified the situation....

And Pooky you of all people should know that size does not matter!

Not sure about the no wifi... what happens when I get my wireless router? And I haven't looked to see what else is missing for only a R39 per month saving on the Anytime 200. ;)

ya man, 39pm x 24 = 936. Thats almost a grand. I'm looking at getting it on a anytime 100, only 139pm. They dont give the N82 on a Anytime 100, then again, I havent asked :)

As Gareth Cliff says, "with all due respect" :) , your decisions are not making financial sense... ;)

If you were going to go for the Nokia 6220 the 200 option at R200 would make so much more sense! You are paying in an extra R39 per month on the Anytime100 for no reward! On the R200 your R200 paid gets you R200 value!
 
yeah, my mind is a little befuddled with all the reviews and specs and numbers. I've been spending the past week doing this now, and I feel like I'm now almost ready to write the cellular phone and contract exam :)
you right, the 200 gets me more, i just want to keep my monthly expenditure down.

i decided to get the Omnia and the Nokia, the Omnia will be my primary on a 350 package and the Nokia will b a backup, 6220/N82 will make a hell of a backup though, anyways, what can i say, i'm a gadget freak!

Not many good comments.

And another :

But I was let down by the keypad. Despite it being twice the size of that in my current phone, I found myself typing less accurately on the Omnia.

I thought of using the stylus provided but as there was no stylus slot, it was too troublesome for me to carry a stylus around. I also did not like that the expandable micro-SD memory slot is located under the battery cover. But these are just minor inconveniences.

Now, if the Omnia can just make its interface and navigation more user-friendly, it just might be able to strike a heavier blow to its Apple rival.

And this was not me searching for bad comments. As stated I typed in the words above and then looked for ones that reviewed typing on the Omnia in the summary on the search results.
