Kubuntu 8.10 beta won't mount NTFS partions

I only have this problem using Kubuntu but not Ubuntu.

Any suggestions?
 
I only had that problem with Ubuntu......weird.
 
There is a GTK utility called NTFS config maybe you could try that but under KDE3 I just use 'disk&filesystems' under 'system settings' to mount my NTFS drives.

Tried that it won't work. Considering all the small issues I have with KDE 4xx I'll wait for Ubuntu 8.10 final to be released. Looks like I am stuck with Gnome for another 6 months:eek:

If you can't mount an ntfs partition, boot back into Windows, shutdown properly and then reboot into Linux. You cannot mount a (FAT32 and NTFS) partition if it has not been properly unmounted.

Tried that, doesn't work:confused:
 
Have you installed the ntfs driver thingy from adept? Had to do that once with 7.10...
 
Its an issue that is present in the current Beta's of the OS, and as such things should not be expected to work as they should. Just wait for the final release...
 
Funny enough, I had the same problem on my WUBI Ubuntu installation. I thought it was normal :p LOL
 
can you post the output of sudo dpkg -l | grep ntfs, sudo fdisk -l and sudo cat /etc/fstab?

Running chkdsk /f <drive>: in Windows might prove worthwhile as well.

You can add the ntfs-3g mount option "force" to /etc/fstab to bypass that.

Oh well if it is a Beta issue thing then I guess that solves it all.
 
Well over at ubuntuforums.org many many people are having problems mounting ntfs partitions(when it worked in the Alpha releases, now it doesn't work in the Beta releases) so it should be resolved in due time I reckon.
