Microsoft lowers Xbox 360 retail price in South Africa

From today, Xbox 360, which includes a 60GB hard drive and one wireless controller, will have an estimated retail price (ERP) of R 2699.99.

The Xbox 360 Elite, which comes with a 120GB hard drive, will have an ERP of R 3499.99. The entry level Xbox 360 Arcade console will have an ERP of R 1799.99.

Still don't think the Elite model is worth the money...

But its awesome news about the price drop, should boost up their sales a lot!

GH:WT almost more expensive than a console, crazy.... :)
 
those prices are making me want to get another 360 even though i wouldnt know what to do with it. so it looks like they have hit that "impulse buy sweet spot".

/maybe i can put it in the guest room...
 
Unlike the PS3 there's a very good reason to get multiple 360s:

Media Extension - With all the 360's being able to stream you can put them where ever you have a TV in you house so you can stream content of your central server Pc rather than having to copy your files all over the place.

LOL, multiple Xbox's would be a bit of a waste, rather use the money to buy more games or sponsor some PS3 fan a brand new xbox to give him a real gaming experience :p

I can see a lot of Xbox consoles under the Christmas tree in SA this year...

Don't think the shops will lower their prices yet, need to sell the current stock at old prices probably :(

Yeah there's a great deal - get an Xbox 360 Pro for only R2700 and not only will they thrown in a free upgrade from 20Gb to 60Gb, but you get Hexic HD and a months Xbox Live! for free as well ;)
 
Wow - impressive! I've still got a original XBOX which I used as a multimedia centre with XBMC. For that price its almost worth upgrading

The PS3 can also stream media via a PC, what nice about the PS3, is that you have an option, to stream data or save the data to the PS3's HDD.

I got Pro 60GB a couple of weeks ago, but i'm not sure how to check if its a jasper or opus. Maybe wait a while, the rate at which MS is bringing out these new versions of motherboards, the "enigma", "blue steel" or "magnum" models should hit shelves soon.:D

some one should tell MS, those are much better names, I'll take a blue steel
 
Falcon = hdmi manufactured before september 2008, CPU = 65nm

jasper = hdmi after september 2008. cpu + gpu = 65 nm.

Opus = refurbushed - these only in coutries that repair themselves - and most likely we in future with the new replacement
policey from mi digital.

so only the newest ones should be jasper.
