Newbie help for HTC and Windows Mobile

I have had a Sony Ericsson P900 for about 5 years now. If all goes well I'll be upgrading to a HTC Touch Pro tomorrow, however, I have no idea how HTC's work, I don't know anything about Windows Mobile or rom upgrades, etc.

Can anyone direct me to some websites or point me in the right direction to get started with this new platform? I've only ever used Symbian platforms on my previous phones and it was fairly easy to load homebrew apps onto my P900. Do all regular PC based apps work on Windows Mobile or do i have to get Windows Mobile specific apps? Where does one find apps/video codecs/anything cool for Windows Mobile?

Any useful information regarding the above will be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance to all that reply.
 
Howzit. I didnt realise that the Touch Pro is available yet. Just to let you know, i'm also a SE P990 user waiting for a Touch Pro.
BTW what network are you on. Have you received any pricing?

I contacted Leaf in Cedar Square (Gauteng) today. They have the HTC Touch Pro for R7720 ex. VAT (R8800 inc) for prepaid. They say that its not network blocked so one can use a sim from any network on the phone.

I went out to get a Touch Pro from MTN century city on Sunday, and they said they should be available by the end of the week. No word on pricing, but was told they would let me know during the week.
 
For the people in CT, why not try to contact Leaf there and find out if they have it? Their website front/splash page says that they have it already. I'm assuming that means that all their stores have it.

PC apps don't run on windows mobile
HTC specific rom information and free apps are obtainable from http://forum.xda-developers.com/

If you know how to use a Windows based PC, Windows Mobilie will be a piece of cake for you.
 
Phoned Nashua Mobile this morning. No Pricing yet, ETA
First or Second week of November.
 
Got it from leaf today :) No opinion on it yet since its still charging. Really excited about it :D
