Nineteen Durban buses were petrol bombed at the Ntuzuma bus depot yesterday amid labour ructions between Remant Bus Services and its drivers.

Police spokesman Superintendent Vincent Mdunge said the buses were set alight just after 2 am. A security guard on duty at the depot heard a loud bang and rushed to the scene. The buses were already burning when he got to them.

Mdunge said police are investigating a case of arson and that a large group was involved.

The damage was estimated at R35 million. No one was injured.

Disgruntled employees were demanding to be employed by the eThekwini Municipality

We're dealing with some similar situation here. Wekkas wanting to be employed directly by the municipality and not through a (in our case "white") company working for the municipality

I guess the wekkas are now going to be suffering because they'll be out of a job seeing as there are no buses for them to drive.
