e.tv not happy with Icasa's allocations

Does that mean that we would have to change our current aerial systems to receive digital tv?

I think you just need a new "receiver" box AFAIK. Like a decoder basically..:confused:
 
they should hav actually removed them from tv altogether as punishment for getting into bed with monochoice instead of being a COMPETITOR!!
 
This probably means that there'll be space for a whole lot more subscription channels( which I doubt) or that the spare capacity will be used for future HD channels. AFAIK mpeg4 will allow more channels to be squeezed into the limited spectrum during Sentech's duel elimination phase.

Seriously I'd like to see an SABC HD channel where they can showcase all their content on one channel along with one from etv.
 
dont watch to much tv, but yes ICASA is a sad sad little incompetent body. Just another way for our gov to slap in a couple more bribes i scheme. Also scheme that maybe the gov dont want people to maybe not get gov controlled propaganda... Sad

Nope. Just a box afaik. Normal signals will be available till 2011, so by then you will have to have upgraded.
 
who cares, In the last 3 years there have been more articles than i can remember about dissatisfaction with icasa, and yet never one that actually has any impact on me as a consumer.
 
However, the production industry has expressed mixed feelings about the new channels. They say that there should be commitment from the broadcasters to invest more money in local production - including documentaries, corporate videos and dramas - which is estimated to be worth about R3 billion.

Apparently there are people, you know the ones that fall for that "Please sms your answer to xxxxx, Who is in this picture?" DUH crapola.

How else do they know how people watch their crap.
 
Awww poor etv. Icasa stopped them from creating their own soft-core porn channel. I think etv should focus on improving their current channel before creating a new one. Their news channel is quite good though.
 
is the digital box out yet ? Where can i get one from ? I seen sabc advertising that they are switching to digital signal next month
