Explain how it will triple their profits? If they had a total of 30 missions split into 3 games, then I would agree with you, but they have said that the total will be 90 missions with branching story lines. Thats triple the amount of work and they are planning to release the games within 1 year of each other.Sure this way they will probably triple their profits,

Everyone is assuming they are taking 1 game and splitting it into 3. What they fail to understand is that each campaign will be a game on it's own. Best comparison is the LotR trilogy. 3 movies 1 storyline.
PS Starcraft 1 had a total of 32 missions.
.. and the 3rd option was to put all three parts of the game onto a bunch of DVD`s and ship it as a whole product. The company said that it had two options: One was to cut down on the scope and vision of the game, releasing less epic more linear campaigns with reduced character development. The second option was to cut out a lot of what they wanted to do, but maintain a fair degree of their epic vision; this would essentially be a compromise. It would also mean a further delay of the release.
Since you've gone off and taken my comment out of context here is why the development costs are not the same as making three different games: THEY BUILT THE PLATFORM ALREADY. i.e. they don't have to actually develop the game from scratch since vast majority of the stuff has already been developed. I agree with you that there are still significant development costs but they are not even on the same level. This is why they can make comments like releasing them one year after each other instead of the 4 to 5 years it took to release the 1st one, even though they haven't started working on the 2nd campaign yet.
So maybe triple will be an exaggeration, but easily double.

5 years in development (so far) is rushing? Damn seems pretty slow to me.
Has there been a release date set yet?
