View Full Version : Cape Talk program on ADSL
Hi folks
I have just been contacted by Cape Talk and they might have a short program regarding the high fees of broadband in SA later today (17:45 or so…). It has not been confirmed yet, but it might be worthwhile to tune in.

RPM, please let us know for sure? Although I listen to Cape Talk to and from work, I've been giving my mp3 player some preference lately.
Hi guys
To the best of my knowledge it will be on at 17:45 today on Cape Talk only.

Hi folks
I have just received a call from Cape Talk informing me that the interview will not take place today (they ran out of time on today’s show) but rather tomorrow. It should be on somewhere between 4pm and 6pm. I will inform you as soon as I receive confirmation. I apologize for inconvenience…I was as uncertain as to what is happening as anybody else :-(

As long as the interview is before 17:00, I'll be able record it. Gotta leave early from work today.
Hi folks
I have just heard from Cape Talk again and the ADSL issue will only be on next week some time. The reason is that Telkom would like Steven White to discuss the issues surrounding ADSL rather than their media manager. It will be great news if we can debate the issue with Steven…I hope the show materializes!

Does not look like Cape Talk has a streaming option? Is anyone gonna record this and maybe could get it posted on the site? Or even if someone in Cape Town is really nice could provide us with transcripts. Maybe we should all plan a IRC meeting for that time and possible have running commentary?
Someone must record the interviewand and put it up for download. As I'm sure many people will miss it.

RPM, don’t forget to tell the fellow about the R7000 bill for the 1.1 million hits the previous month and because of it MyADSL had to be moved internationally so that it's more affordable. This alone points to the massive problems we have in SA with costs etc. I’m sure you can elaborate from their.

Hi folks
Thanks for all the feedback and ideas. It might be a good idea to wait for confirmation by Cape Talk about the show before we get too excited. The show could not be held on Friday since Telkom was not ‘ready’, and we might just see this trend continuing… At least we are getting a fair amount of media coverage in the newspapers etc. I suspect a few more articles will be published this week [;)]
