Johannesburg - One of the two foreigners killed in a shoot-out in Kabul, Afghanistan was a South African citizen, a foreign affairs spokesperson said on Saturday.
"The South African Government wishes to confirm that one of the two foreigners who were killed in a shoot-out in Kabul, Afghanistan on Saturday was a South African citizen who worked for DHL International," Nomfanelo Kota said.
Kota said the next of kin of the deceased had been informed.
She said the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, and the Government of South Africa, expressed "their sincere condolences to the family and friends of the deceased. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this trying time".
