What motherboard to get?

Guys, it looks like my mobo got fried the other night. Lightning hit my house while I was sleeping. PC was off, but it seems the motherboard got pwned anyway.

I'd like to OC my CPU from 2.6ghz to 3.2ghz and it would be nice to have the option of adding a second 4870 at a later date.


Any recommendations on a nice board?

Well you might wanna tell us what cpu you have...
 
Are we talking Intel or AMD here (which model?) DDR2 or DDR3 memory requirements?

yo! I don't think you need to overclock any more, and dropping down to 3.6ghz will be underclocking surely?
 
So would 8x with PCI-E 2.0 bottleneck my 4870(s)?

*edit* @ PMP: right now I have one card, but would like to have the option for a 2nd at a later date.

The relation you should be concerned about RE: 8x vs 16x in crossfire is CPU to GPU, if you have quite a powerful CPU then yes you could might be a bit of throttling of power if the board runs only 8x.
However whether you would notice it in the real world is another question, ..the answer is probably not unless you live to benchmark..
