Not sure where to post this but here goes.

I paid R750 cash for 1 year subs for a financial mag. They did say that if I don't stop the subs, they will after 1 year deduct R970 for the following year. I stopped this 6 months ago by email.
Now they have deducted R970 from me without warning.
Also they don't reply to my emails for a reversal.
Is there not a law against this practice?

If you have proof you emailed them, the sent email itself should work, you can take that to your bank and hear what they can do as it does count as fraud.

You're in a better position if you used a Visa or Matercard credit card - just take your email correspondence to the bank and they will reverse the charge if there's sufficient proof that you stopped the service.

I notice that most SA online shops insist on EFT or similar payment arrangements, knowing that if they don't deliver or the goods are not up to scratch, you can do stuff-all about it.

I sent the email 6 months ago. Gone now. Had 2 different subscriptions with them. Stopped both and now 1 has renewed.
Surely there is a consumer protection against this?

I will name them if I do not get the money back by Monday.

find thier offices and go and demand your money back

Got it back today. I was looking forward to a good fight.
