I would just like to know how ICASA can be doing something like this ?

Are they buying the rights from MTN to do so or what is the agreement here ?
The fact that MTN is the sole content provider for mobile content is a big thing which would affect me as a share holder ?

I would like more details about this tbh :o

@ Pitbul

Article was written Thabiso Mochiko of the business report, they are generally pretty good on their facts. But feel free to investigate your source and let us know what you find.

The important thing to remember is that DVB-H is a very new technology, only a few years old in terms of actual service provision. So even the big European operators are still finding their feet and refining their business models. South Africa will have to find its own way in this regard as there is very little outside experience to draw on," Moore said.

We can forget it here. It's going to be an embarrassing dud

At R200 per month you got to be kidding even at R100 per month its over priced, lets get realistic...

If they had to come in at R50 to R75 per month too start with then it will be a success from day one.

Sorry for the delayed response however MTN do have exclusive rights for mobile broadcast of the 2010 cup, however the service on DVB-H will probably cost close to nothing to get mass adoption in the DVB-H Realm. This does mean that if you are a Voda subscriber you will not be able to watch the Soccer on your phone, in any form.
give it a couple of months.

Wow on a 1.5 inch screen - those players will assume single pixel sizes. :)

Or do they mean you can stream it to a bigger screen from your phone - in which case DSTV is already there....

or do they mean live updates.... in which case you can have the FIFA website or any decent news service if you have an internet browser which will tell you the results as they come in - live.
