Is Nintendo Price Fixing on their consoles?

I discovered an interesting thing about Nintendo prices:

The Nintendo DS-Lite is the same price in every shop, R 1799.95

Even Kalahari.net has it listed at this price to the exact cent!

How can this be so??

I chatted to a guy in CNA and was told that the prices are fixed by Nintendo. I thought price-fixing was illegal.

I've looked at Makro, Game, CNA, Look & Listen, Pick 'n Pay Hyper, Incredible Connection - all the same. Has anyone seen a different price?
 
Nintendo has nothing to do with the local distribution of their products ! The Problem is the Core Group who imports nintendo and apple products
 
So where does the RRP (Recommended Retail Price) come from. Nintendo's distributor or Nintendo Corporation? I don't think that is the point though.
 
I don't think it's "fixing" per se. The items are in such demand there's little or no reason for the retailers to lower prices. I have seen them on special for R50-R100 less, I can't imagine the retail margins are that great.
 
Musica, CNA, Look & Listen, etc. They all sell games & consoles at the same price. No competition. Only place to find better prices is online.
