How do I convert my VHS tapes and record the videos on DVD's?

What equipment will I need, and how much will it cost?

Then again, is there somebody willing to help with the conversion for a small fee?

TIA

If you know anyone who has a digital camcorder you might be able to use it to digitise the analogue VHS into something PC friendly.

with a hdd/dvd machine
I've got an LG one
I used a Pinnacle Pro One video editing card before that - believe me, camcorders/computers/video editing stuff = nightmare
you want your vhs on dvd? get one of those machines! ;)

You'd think so but with iMovie and iDVD its a breeze (must be if I can manage it :D)

I've got a Samsung DVD recorder, VCR combo machine and converted all my old VHS tapes to DVD. Simple process.. pop in the VHS and blank, choose your quality (SP, LP, EP..) and click copy to DVD and it did the rest. I paid R3,5k for it at Game in '06 I think. A buddy also brought me all his 'camcorder' tapes and I copied that to DVD too, by having the camcorder as an input.

Problem is, I messed up the DVD recorder and need to take it to someone to have it fixed, so at the moment if I want to record from the TV, I do it on VHS :o

I can help you... Depending on how many are needed to be made... I make dvd's of the tapes including covers and all...

If you want the price i can pm you...
